It’s a true uniqueness, even a funny feeling when you find yourself in an abiding friendship with someone you’ve never actually met in the flesh. But that is the case with my friend, Dr. Praveen Srivastava. We have known each other for going on ten years now and despite the vast differences in our cultures (mine the US, his India), we have formed a bond, originally in our shared business interests. But later as we discovered our shared importance of family, community, and the values we both employ in business and our daily lives – things that have little to do with culture. Additionally, I find Praveen a man of remarkable character, a man for whom family and his closest relationships are kept paramount, above everything.
I can easily see why he is drawn to community service work and volunteerism. It’s who is and from conversations, I see that it provides a balance in life for him – the same balance I think we’re all seeking.
And lastly I would offer that his mentoring of teens as well as young professionals is a thing of high value – one that will extend beyond his own life and onto those he serves in the generations below him. I believe Praveen is helping to build young men, women, fathers, mothers and business professionals of strong character and grounded qualities that can be passed on for generations.
I am proud to call Praveen a good friend…
